THE RADICAL OBEDIENCE EXPERIMENT
Week 1 --"Love God"
Welcome to our mostly virtual group! I know that you are all as busy or busier than we are.. so we are excited about connecting online! Klint & I are so happy to be back in a small group after what seems like a very long time. We have been a little out of the loop for at least 17 months. Our triplets, Lilibeth, Jack and West were born in October of 2010, and since they were premature, we have not been able to have them at church during the winter months in order to stay well. Having these three has been by far the greatest blessing and the most fun of our lives, but premature lungs have been less than fun. We are officially out of quarantine and ready to be out! Since we won't be meeting as a group for a few weeks, please start by introducing your family in the comments section. (I hope it will allow you to include a picture so that we can connect names and faces... and recognize each other at CBF!).
I'm going to give it a try for our fam in the comments section....
I can't post a pic here! Send me a picture of your family and I will post it in a separate post "Pics of the H.E.R.D.ers" Send pics to: klintandlaura@gmail.com
I think that the easiest way for us to share will be to take each of Rick's discussion points as a separate post, then comment on each post. Just start by commenting on this post with info (and possibly pics) of your family. Then just click on the next post, read Rick's discussion point and we will "converse" in the comments section. Ready, set... GO!
The Warner Family
ReplyDeleteKlint - Loves a day on the lake, his job (wood flooring contractor) and Tomball. When we graduated from SFA, I asked "Where are we going?" (hoping for a loft in a big city). He looked at me like I had lost my mind and said, "Tomball, of course!"
Laura - Also LOVES a day on the lake and is happy to listen to Klint when he gives an almost daily report of Lake Conroe's water level, loved (and misses) her job in education, but really loves her new gig with these three at home... it's all going by so fast!
Lilibeth - 17 months, sweet girl who LOVES "sh-sh-shoes!" Too bad her mama rarely puts them on her! Three sets of socks and shoes amount to a 10-15 minutes set back in getting out the door (depending on the number of thrown socks and shoes in the process!)
West- 17 months, loves to make is brother and sister laugh, climbing is his favorite sport.
Jack- 17 months, loves a tractor and loves a good game of chase!

ReplyDeleteA little about The Majors Family. I don't have quite the way with words as Mrs. Laura Warner, :) but here we go...
ReplyDeleteTrey - Executive Project Manager at Joslin Construction, an underground utility company officing in Porter. Loves to watch college football, baseball & basketball (esp. the Longhorns) and coaches our son's little league team, along with the brother-in-law, Brian. The team: The Red Sox. Also LOVES the outdoors...fishing, hunting, camping, you name it! If you asked him where he would really like to live, he would tell you IDAHO (ain't gonna happen!) He also loves to read and loves his little family.
Robin - Secretary at CBF (you all already knew that) who enjoys helping others. I really do love it! I can't even imagine working anywhere else. I also love that I have been so close to my kiddos by getting to have them at JOY School. I am so blessed! I am so thankful for all the friends I have made through the school and my church. I also enjoy crafting (when I have time?) and love to work in the yard, although it's kind of a challenge now with Hallie on the move. I am excited about this new group and am excited to get to know you all even more.
Hudson - The sweetest 8 year old boy you'll ever meet. He is so thoughtful and tenderhearted. He is also very athletic, loves his baseball and his best friend Brady (who is also his cousin). He loves watching movies with his dad (lots of James Bond...yuck! :) and he just adores his little sister. Doesn't really care for school, but makes excellent grades. I call him my sweet, handsome boy!
Hallie "Happy" Beth - She is already 19 months old! She loves her shoes and will bring them to me to put on and take off and put on and take off. She also loves her Bubba, who she likes to see first thing in the mornings to wake up. Definitely a Daddy's girl and makes the most of it! Her Daddy calls her Hurricane Hallie...you can guess why. She can throw a real good fit when she is not getting what she wants...it's quite a spectacle. But, she is still my sweet, beautiful girl.
Can't wait to hear about all of you...
P.S.. We don't have a recent group picture of all 4 of us, so I may send you a couple of 2 & 2 or something?
The D'Anna Family
ReplyDeleteTony--
Tony is an elevator mechanic apprentice, and in his last year of school/training, he will sit for the mechanic's exam in November...which means that this is the last semester that he has to go to school on Monday evenings after work. Tony loves building, welding, engineering...(and I am lucky that I get custom-made furniture). He is happiest while doing a project in his garage where sawdust and tools are king! (And always jokes to me that he can't wait until Emma chooses to help Daddy with a "project" instead of going shopping with Mama...hmm, we'll see!)
Christa--
I work as a Project Manager at an elevator company (my parents' company) writing technical proposals and running on-going projects...basically littering my desk w/ post-its and crossing items off of to-do lists all day long in a futile attempt to get ahead. My main project is the Houston First contract we have in the theater district and my team of 4 mechanics onsite downtown. My degrees are in public relations, but after being laid off in 2008--I re-evaluated, and chose to turn in my "fancy clothes, business dinners/galas, and big paycheck" for a more-flexible, family-friendly job where I can spend my evenings being with my family, take days off in order to be involved in school activities, and have a better work-life balance for kids. I love gardening (colorful flowers and a sunny day just make me smile)...and I have started taking up sewing for my 35th bday present...cross your fingers for me!
Emma--"Peanut" or "Emma Bean"
15 months old-- Our life has been completely blessed with the birth of our daughter Emma. She is the happiest, friendliest, sweetest baby girl in the world--wakes up with a smile that melts my heart every morning. Emma is so easy going and happy all the time. She loves big hugs-as she pats your back, giving kisses, books and shoes. She loves to hold her Thumper "Bumper" or Puppy "Puh-py" stuffed animal under her arm as she goes about her business. She is a very busy girl, loves to paint and loves to swing/slide in her backyard.
Baby #2??--
Tony and I are currently going through fertility treatment in the hopes of being able to add to our family in a non-traditional way. We are having to try ivf w/ a surrogate (Tony's sister) because of my health scares while I was pregnant w/ Emma. We would love to add to our family and have a sibling for Emma too!
We are looking forward to this group and getting to know everyone better!
The Downey Family:
ReplyDeleteFamily of four & stopping there! We have two arms, two legs, two eyes-that's why we stopped at two kids; we wished not to be outnumbered.
Brian-
He, like Trey Majors, works for Joselin Construction and from what I understand puts in underground utilities for commercial construction sites??? All I know is he is good at it, is happy when he comes home, and is thankful to be employed. Fun Fact: these two have worked for the same companies off and on for the past 10 years or so. He loves to play golf & go to the gym, but mostly he loves to be at home with his family. He is a man of few words(in case you haven't noticed) but when he does get going, his words are very kind. He is a Texas boy-without the huntin' and fishin'-but with all the "Yes Ma'ams" and manners. He is assistant coach to our son's (and Hudson's) baseball team and loves it. (Yes, the Majors Family & the Downey Family see a lot of each other...)
Trisha-
I am an Office/Billing/Credentialing Manager for Dr. Richard S. Brown- AKA: Jack-Of-All-Trades. I have worked for him for the past 15 years and still love it. I have no reason not to love it- I only work 3 days a week in the office and can work from home on the other days. That means more time at home with the kiddos. I love to run/exercise, sit in silence(a recent discovery about myself), and I love to organize things-almost obsessively- according to Rob! I love to be home, and have a slight tendency to "hermit" there- too much sometimes- also according to Rob!
Brady-
Whoa-where to start? He is always up and ready to start the day- in a mad dash! He does everything he has to do very quickly so he can do the things he wants to do sooner. He has it all figured out. He loves anything that does not require sitting(which tells you where he stands on the subject of school)- mostly sports. He sometimes gets confused on where he lives & which family he belongs to because he just assumes he & Hudson should be at the same place at all times. He loves to do anything with Dad and "the boys" and takes very good care of his little sister, despite her resistance. He loves his Mama and tells me all the time. He is my joy.
Baylee-
Oh- Baylee, Baylee, Baylee. That sums it up for her. Just kidding. She is an Executive CEO and/or an attorney trapped in a 3-year-old little girl’s body. She was almost two weeks late coming into this world and has moved at her own pace ever since. She keeps me laughing, crying and praying all the time, and often all at the same time- if any of you out there can relate…. She is always up for a party, Tea Party that is & FINALLY wants to be a ballerina. Her strong personality is also to credit for the way she loves so strongly, and I just love her to pieces right back. She is my love.
So that’s it. My life- my joy, and my love….
“See you all at the ball park”-as Trey Majors would say….

ReplyDeleteTodd-
He recently quit his job as a sales manager at a manufacturing company and has been blessed to be able to spend some much needed time with the boys! He loves cars and loves working on them just as much. Needless to say, my garage seems to have a new "project" in it very often! He loves watching football (Denver Broncos fan) and Nascar. He grew up in San Diego and then moved to Colorado that's where we met, then we moved to Texas 8 years ago, to be closer to his daughter! Todd is a wonderful dad and enjoys spending time with his family.
Heather-
I am an office manager for an oil and gas company, here in Tomball. I have worked there for 4 years and love it! I also love watching football, a Denver Broncos fan too!!! I was born and raised in Denver, so I didn't really have much of a choice! :) I enjoy spending time outside with my family and I also like to read. Being a mom has got to be by far my biggest blessing in life! I am looking forward to meeting everyone!
Ashley-
She is 18 and graduating from The Woodlands high school and just found out she has been excepted to University of Alabama! So it looks like Todd and I will be becoming Alabama fans very quick! I don't know who will miss her more, me or her daddy! She has become such a beautiful, smart, and loving young lady, but it seems just like yesterday she was 9! Boy how time flies!!! She loves to sing, exercise, and spend time with her friends and family.
TJ-
He is the sweetest 5 year old, you will ever meet! He LOVES to be outdoors, playing with his friends, riding his go-kart or 4 wheeler, or swimming. He also loves working in the garage with his daddy! He has recently started to come out of his shell and to our surprise he is pretty witty (just like his dad). TJ is a great big brother and always looking out for Coy!
Coy Boy-
He is the sweetest 1 year old you will ever meet, but do not make him mad casue he sure does have a mean streak! (wonder where he gets that!) He is very strong headed, always knows what he wants! He also loves to be outside playing with all the neighborhood kids, loves to swing, or pretty much whatever TJ is doing! He absolutely adores his big bubba!
This is my life and I love it!

The LaPell Family ~
ReplyDeleteMike ~ “The Outdoorsman” He loves hunting, fishing, grilling and mowing the yard. He is an amazing Dad and capable of fixing anything. Family always comes first to him, but he loves to work. He is employed at Alarm Techs which is a company that specializes in the installation of security systems, access control, fire alarms; surround sound and theater equipment in commercial buildings. Basically he runs all over the state and sometimes LA fixing existing systems and writing bids on new projects.
Sabrina ~ I love being a mom! My husband and my kids are my world. This is my first year working at Joy School in the Ladybug room and I feel extremely blessed to be there! I’m very close to both of my grandmothers and love to spend time at my Meme’s lake house on Sam Rayburn. I like to read and have always wanted to sew, but definitely could use some more practice.
Blake ~ He’s eleven years old and is one of the kindest people that I know. He’s extremely intelligent and loves sports! This kid is a member of the chess club, plays percussion in the school band and plays football and baseball. He’s an awesome big brother and I would say that loyalty is one of his best characteristics. He loves to read and definitely has an artistic side, but loves spending time with Dad at the deer lease too. He’s very well rounded and we couldn’t be prouder of him!
Grace ~ She is the completion of our family of four. She loves to talk and always has a lot to say. She loves princess movies and Barbie’s, but has no problem getting dirty with her Daddy and Bubba! This girl also loves clothes! She changes clothes all the time and we need a full time housekeeper just to keep up with her laundry! She is a beautiful child inside and out and like her brother, very smart. She’s a little shy when you first meet her, but once she warms up to you she will capture your heart!
I forgot to mention that our Grace is 3!

ReplyDeleteEric-
He is a District Sales Manager for on Oil and Gas Service company, so he spends much of his time in his truck driving between customer offices and Louisiana. In his free time he loves to play with Isaac. Whatever free time is left he spends taking photos, golfing and working out.
Jessica-
I grew up in Brenham the home of Blue Bell ice cream and the happy cows. We love living in Tomball because we are close to home and free babysitting but also close to Houston and many more shopping options than normal small towns. I went to school for business and interior decorating. I have been blessed with the ability to stay home with Isaac, sometimes I miss working but I would not trade it for the world. I love playing outside with Isaac, working out and interior decorating. According to Eric, I go a little extreme with my OCD with my ability to tell if any item in the house has been moved or rotated in any way other than the proper location for that item.
Isaac-
Pure Energy!! He is 2.5 years old and takes after Eric and his ADD but not his hair color. He is always on the run and the only time he sits still is when he is sleeping, which is not very often since he has informed us that he is no longer taking naps. Isaac loves anything he can ride on including his Daddy's back.
